A forecheck is only as good as what it turns into. We count every offensive-zone hit, takeaway and forced defensive-zone giveaway, then add up the expected goals of the attempts that follow within ten seconds.
Hits make up more than half of these pressure events, and hit recording varied a lot by arena before 2024-25, so older seasons carry a scorer-bias caveat.

How reliable is it?
Team forecheck rates separate clearly (in our sample, 0.33 per game for the best team vs 0.13 for the worst); it is a team trait more than a player one.
