Totals are projected over the games left in the window (goalies × chance to start). Score is the weighted sum of z-scores across every streaming candidate. Projections: LineupExperts standard rest-of-season, with PPP, faceoffs and +/- from our derived model (derived-1.2.0); per-game models where available. Shutouts are not projected.
How it works
- Every candidate (rostered in 80% of leagues or fewer) gets a projection per game in each category: LineupExperts rest-of-season rates, with power-play points, faceoff wins and plus/minus from our derived model.
- Where a per-game model has tonight's number (hits and blocks from the opponent environment, shots on goal, faceoff wins), it replaces the season rate for that game. Power-play points scale with the expected power-play chances.
- Projections are summed over the player's games left in the window. Games that have started drop out. Goalies count each game by their chance to start.
- Each category becomes a z-score across all candidates with a game in the window, and the score is the weighted sum: need counts once, need ×2 twice, punt not at all. Save percentage counts saves above average, so a likely starter with a good save rate beats a backup.
- Availability is applied last: your connected league's free agents, or a rostered-% ceiling. Shutouts are not projected; that model has not passed its calibration check yet.

Frequently asked questions
Who should I pick up to catch up in hits and blocks this weekend?
Players with two games left on Saturday and Sunday, a physical role, and opponents that create a lot of hit and block chances. The tool on this page ranks them for you, and the banger streamers page lists the weekend's top low-rostered options with the reasons.
How is this different from Streamer Finder?
Streamer Finder ranks fantasy points (or one category) for the nights you can use over two weeks. Category Catch-Up is for head-to-head category leagues late in the week: pick the categories you are chasing, weight or punt each one, and it ranks players by what they add over the games they have left in your window.
Does the number of games left matter?
Yes, it is the biggest factor. Totals are summed over each player's remaining games, and games that have already started drop out, so a skater with two games left on the weekend usually beats a better player with one.
What does punting a category do?
Punted categories are ignored in the ranking. "Need ×2" doubles a category's weight. Categories are combined as z-scores across every streaming candidate, so hits and shots count on the same scale.
Can it show only free agents in my league?
Yes, for connected ESPN and Fantrax leagues: choose "Available in" your league and players rostered there are hidden. Yahoo league sync is unavailable right now; it plugs into the same filter when it returns. Anyone can use the rostered-% filter instead.
