Edgehalla League Connect: the free fantasy hockey browser extension

Edgehalla League Connect connects a private ESPN or Yahoo fantasy hockey league to Edgehalla, so your weekly dashboard can project your own matchup. It runs on Chrome, Edge or Brave on a computer, works only when you ask it to, and never changes anything in your league.

Add to Chrome — free (opens the Chrome Web Store in a new tab)

Works in Chrome, Edge and Brave. Installed it? Then .

Yahoo support is live in version 0.2.0. Already installed? Chrome updates it automatically; accept the new Yahoo access when Chrome asks.

What the extension does

  • Private ESPN leagues, no copying

ESPN keeps private leagues behind two login cookies, espn_s2 and SWID, that websites can’t read. When you click Allow, the extension hands them to Edgehalla, which stores them encrypted and uses them only to read your league.

  • Private Yahoo leagues, synced

When you click Refresh on Edgehalla, the extension opens your own Yahoo Fantasy hockey league pages with your Yahoo sign-in and passes the page content to Edgehalla, which reads your teams, rosters and matchup from it.

  • Edgehalla badges on Yahoo pages

On Yahoo Fantasy hockey pages it adds small badges next to player names: games left this week, today’s opponent, confirmed or expected goalies, lines and power-play units, and streamer scores on the free-agent list. The matchup page gets a games-remaining panel for both teams. The “E” button hides them.

Install it on Chrome, Edge or Brave

On a desktop or laptop, open the Chrome Web Store listing and click Add to Chrome (in Edge, allow extensions from other stores when asked). Then pin it from the puzzle-piece menu so its icon stays in the toolbar.

Chrome, Edge or Brave on a computer. Safari, Firefox and phones aren’t supported. After you set up a league on a computer, you can view the Edgehalla dashboard on any device.

Already installed? Chrome updates it on its own. When the Yahoo update reaches you, Chrome asks you to accept the new Yahoo access before turning the extension back on (see troubleshooting).

Connect a private Yahoo league, step by step

Yahoo support is live in version 0.2.0. Already installed? Chrome updates it automatically; accept the new Yahoo access when Chrome asks.

  1. Step 1: Use Chrome, Edge or Brave on a computer

Use Chrome, Edge or Brave on a computer. Safari, Firefox and phones aren’t supported. After setup, you can view your Edgehalla dashboard on your phone too; refreshing a private Yahoo league happens on this computer.

  2. Step 2: Install Edgehalla League Connect

Add the free extension from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to the toolbar. Chrome warns that it can read and change data on fantasy.espn.com, hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com, www.espn.com and www.edgehalla.com; the permissions section below explains each one.

  3. Step 3: Sign in to Yahoo Fantasy in the same browser

Open Yahoo Fantasy hockey and sign in as usual. Click the extension icon: it should say “Yahoo session found”.

  4. Step 4: Paste your league URL on Edgehalla

Create a free Edgehalla account, go to Settings › Leagues › Yahoo, paste your league URL and click Find league. Paste your team page URL instead and Edgehalla pre-selects your team.

  5. Step 5: Read the league with the extension

Edgehalla sees the league is private. Click “Read my league with the extension”. A small window asks “Let Edgehalla read your Yahoo Fantasy hockey league pages when you click Refresh?” Click Allow. It asks only once.

  6. Step 6: Pick your team

Your team is pre-selected if you pasted your team page URL. Click Save league; the first sync runs.

  7. Step 7: Open the dashboard on that computer to refresh

Opening your Edgehalla dashboard on the computer with the extension refreshes the league automatically, at most every 30 minutes, or click Refresh from Yahoo there any time. A phone can view the dashboard but can’t refresh a private Yahoo league. Weekly emails use your latest refresh, so open the dashboard on that computer at least once a day. Optional: Edgehalla badges show up on your Yahoo Fantasy pages, and the “E” button hides them.

  8. Step 8: Revoke any time

Open the extension’s toolbar popup › Site access › Revoke, disconnect the league in Edgehalla Settings › Leagues, or uninstall the extension.

No extension: make the league publicly viewable

No extension needed if your commissioner sets “Make League Publicly Viewable” to Yes in Yahoo’s league settings (Commissioner › Edit League Settings). Public leagues connect with just the league URL from any device, phone included, and Edgehalla refreshes them automatically about every six hours. Viewable doesn’t mean joinable: nobody can join your league.

More on Yahoo: the Yahoo fantasy hockey dashboard.

Connect a private ESPN league, step by step

  1. Step 1: Install the extension on a computer

Add Edgehalla League Connect to Chrome, Edge or Brave from the Chrome Web Store.

  2. Step 2: Sign in at espn.com

Sign in to the ESPN account that belongs to the league, in the same browser. The extension popup shows a check mark for espn_s2 and SWID when it finds them.

  3. Step 3: Paste your league URL on Edgehalla

In Settings › Leagues, choose ESPN and paste your league URL or league ID. Edgehalla tells you the league is private.

  4. Step 4: Fill from ESPN automatically

Click “Fill from ESPN automatically”. The first time, a small window asks to share your ESPN league login with Edgehalla. Click Allow.

  5. Step 5: Pick your team

Choose your team and the weekly dashboard loads. ESPN leagues then sync on their own; you don’t need the computer again unless ESPN signs you out.

Rather not install anything? Your ESPN league manager can make the league viewable to the public, or you can copy espn_s2 and SWID from a desktop browser by hand. The espn_s2 and SWID guide shows both.

Permissions explained

When you install it, Chrome shows: “Read and change your data on fantasy.espn.com, hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com, www.espn.com and www.edgehalla.com.” That is Chrome’s standard wording for site access. Here is what each part is for.

  • “Read and change your data on fantasy.espn.com and www.espn.com”

Chrome needs this host access before an extension can read ESPN cookies. The extension uses it only to read espn_s2 and SWID after you click Allow. It never adds anything to ESPN pages and never sends requests to ESPN.

  • “Read and change your data on hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com”

Two uses, both on Yahoo Fantasy hockey only. When you click Refresh on Edgehalla, it opens your own league pages with your Yahoo sign-in. And it adds the Edgehalla badges to those pages, reading only player ids. No other Yahoo site (mail, finance, news) is touched.

  • “Read and change your data on www.edgehalla.com”

So the extension can tell Edgehalla it is installed, pass along what you allowed, and fetch public player data for the badges.

  • Cookies

Reads the two ESPN cookies above, and checks only the name of a Yahoo sign-in cookie to show “Yahoo session found”. Yahoo cookie values are never read out, stored or sent.

  • Storage

Remembers your Allow / Don’t allow choice per site and platform, and whether badges are shown. It never stores cookie values or league pages.

Is it safe?

  • Manifest V3, with every line of code shipped in the package. No remote code, no eval.
  • Its content security policy only allows connections to two hosts: hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com and www.edgehalla.com.
  • Nothing is shared until you click Allow, separately for ESPN and for Yahoo, per site. ESPN consent never grants Yahoo, and the reverse is true too.
  • No analytics, no ads, no tracking. It costs nothing.
  • Edgehalla only reads your league. It never sets lineups, makes moves or changes anything on ESPN or Yahoo.
  • Revoke access any time from the toolbar popup, or uninstall.

How to revoke access or uninstall

  1. Step 1: Revoke one site or platform

Click the extension icon › Site access, then Revoke next to ESPN or Yahoo. The next Connect or Refresh asks again.

  2. Step 2: Hide the Yahoo badges

Click the floating “E” button on any Yahoo Fantasy page, or untick Yahoo page badges in the popup.

  3. Step 3: Delete your league data

In Edgehalla Settings › Leagues, disconnect the league. Stored ESPN cookies and league data are deleted with it.

  4. Step 4: Uninstall

Right-click the extension icon › Remove from Chrome (or Remove from Microsoft Edge), or open chrome://extensions and click Remove.

Troubleshooting

  • I installed it but Edgehalla still asks me to install

Reload the Edgehalla page. An extension only reaches tabs opened after it was installed, so a tab that was already open can’t see it yet.

  • Edgehalla says your extension is out of date

You have an older version without Yahoo support. Chrome updates extensions automatically, usually within a few hours. To update now, open chrome://extensions (edge://extensions in Edge), turn on Developer mode and click Update, or restart the browser. After an update that asks for new permissions, Chrome switches the extension off until you accept them: click the puzzle-piece icon, or open chrome://extensions, and accept. Then reload the Edgehalla page.

  • It says you are not signed in to Yahoo

Sign in to Yahoo Fantasy hockey in the same browser profile, then try again. The popup should say “Yahoo session found”. Incognito windows use a separate sign-in.

  • On a phone or tablet

Mobile browsers can’t run extensions. Connect from a computer; you can then view the dashboard on your phone. A private Yahoo league refreshes only from the computer with the extension (automatically when you open the dashboard there), while a connected private ESPN league syncs on its own from any device. A public league needs no extension at all.

  • Safari or Firefox

Not supported. Use Chrome, Edge or Brave on a computer, or ask your commissioner to make the league publicly viewable.

  • I clicked “Don’t allow” by mistake

Click the extension’s icon in the toolbar to open its popup. Under Site access, find www.edgehalla.com marked Blocked and click Reset. Then reload the Edgehalla page and try again; it asks you to Allow once more.

Ready to connect your league?

Install the extension, then open Settings › Leagues on Edgehalla. Fantrax and public Yahoo or ESPN leagues need no extension: compare platforms.

League Connect extension FAQ

Is the Edgehalla League Connect extension free?

Yes. The extension and Edgehalla’s league dashboard are free. The extension has no ads, no analytics and no tracking.

Can I connect a private Yahoo fantasy hockey league?

Yes, with the extension on Chrome, Edge or Brave on a computer. Paste your league URL in Settings › Leagues › Yahoo, click Find league, then “Read my league with the extension” and Allow. Yahoo support is live in version 0.2.0. Already installed? Chrome updates it automatically; accept the new Yahoo access when Chrome asks. Or ask your commissioner to make the league publicly viewable, which needs no extension.

Does Edgehalla see my Yahoo password or cookies?

No. The extension never reads, stores or sends your Yahoo password or cookies. Chrome attaches your Yahoo sign-in when the extension opens your league pages; Edgehalla only gets the page content and keeps just your league’s teams, rosters and matchups.

What does the extension do with my ESPN cookies?

After you click Allow, it passes espn_s2 and SWID to the Edgehalla page that asked. Edgehalla stores them encrypted and uses them only to read the ESPN leagues you connect. Disconnecting the league deletes them.

Does my Yahoo league update automatically?

Yes. A private league refreshes automatically when you open your Edgehalla dashboard on the computer with the extension (at most every 30 minutes), and you can click Refresh from Yahoo there any time. A phone can view the dashboard but can’t refresh a private league. Public Yahoo leagues refresh automatically about every six hours, and when you view them or click Refresh, from any device.

Does it work on my phone, Safari or Firefox?

No. It runs on Chrome, Edge or Brave on a computer. After setup, you can view the dashboard on your phone; a private Yahoo league refreshes from the computer.

Why does Chrome say it can read and change data on these sites?

That is Chrome’s standard wording for host access. The extension needs it to read the ESPN login cookies, open your Yahoo league pages and add badges, and fetch public player data from edgehalla.com. It never changes anything on ESPN or Yahoo.

How do I remove the extension’s access?

Open the extension popup › Site access › Revoke, disconnect the league in Edgehalla settings to delete its data, or uninstall the extension from chrome://extensions.
