Past splits, not predictions
Opponent Splits: hits vs each team
Current NHL players whose hits per game against one team ran well above their usual, from every game logged since 2016-17. These are history. For tonight's expected hits, use Hits Tonight.
Reality check. We tested splits like these. Pairs that ran 35%+ above the player's average over 2022-23 to 2024-25 (73% on average) were only 5.6% above his own average against the same opponent the next season (5,993 games). The table below uses every game since 2016-17, a longer window than the test, but the lesson is the same: treat it as history, not a forecast.
For tonight, Hits Tonight projects every skater from his own rate, ice time and the opponent environment, which does hold up out of sample. Arena scorer bias is covered on the arena pages.
