FAQ

What are arena-adjusted hits?

Each game's hits divided by the scorer factor of the arena it was played in, for that season. A hit logged in a building that credited 25% more hits counts as 0.8. Summed over a season, this removes most of the scorer bias from a player's total.

Why are adjusted and raw hits so close in recent seasons?

The NHL has recorded events centrally since 2024-25. That season the arena factors shrank to within about ±6%, so adjustment moves totals by a few percent at most. In 2025-26 the differences did not repeat at all, the factors are 1.00 and adjusted hits equal raw hits. The adjustment matters most for 2023-24 and earlier.

What is a home-scorer mirage?

A player whose hit rate at home is well above his road rate, beyond chance and beyond the league-wide home edge. In older seasons it often meant a generous home scorer. It can also reflect a different role at home, so check his road numbers before paying for hits.
