What Goals Against measures
This board ranks NHL goalies by goals against, regular season only. Pick any season back to 2017-18 above the table. Goals allowed while in net, regular season.
Totals follow starts and team defence; GAA and SV% are the fairer comparisons. Read the number next to its sample: a rate built on a few games moves a lot from week to week, while a total mostly tracks games played and ice time.
Goals against counts every goal allowed while the goalie was in net; empty-net goals are not charged to him. In points leagues GA usually costs points. High totals mostly mean many starts; GAA is the per-game view. In 2024-25, 3 goalies qualify for this board; the median is 58 and Andrei Vasilevskiy leads at 136.
