NHL Live Tests

Every NHL betting idea our research turned up is being tested forward, at real prices, before anyone calls it an edge. This page is the scoreboard: each test's record, its profit, and the range that luck alone could produce. Until a test reaches its pre-registered read, a hot or cold start is mostly noise, and the verdicts say so.

So far: −42.53u over 176 graded bets (−24.2% per bet). No test has beaten the market beyond luck yet.

Bets

1 unit flat at the best US price we logged. The same bets, one by one, are on the betting test.

Puck line: our margin model disagrees by 3+ points

Solve the structural margin model (M1) to the market no-vig moneyline and total. If M1 makes a ±1.5 side at least 3 points more likely than the no-vig consensus, bet that side (almost always the underdog +1.5).

Props: over on a depth or middle-six forward projected into an injured regular’s top-six spot

At the props lock (~75 min before puck drop), when a same-team regular is out and Ascension projects the player into his L1/L2 spot, and the player’s usual EV rate is under 0.45 points a game: points and shots over, 1 unit flat at the best US price. How to read this page

  • Each rule was written down and frozen before its first live result. Changing a rule starts a new test from zero; logged bets are never edited.
  • "Likely range" is a 95% range for profit per bet. With long shots at +500, even 100 bets leave a range about 50 points wide, which is why the read points are 150 to 300 bets.
  • Verdicts: under 30 bets, or with the result inside one standard error of zero, a test is "too early". "Losing beyond luck" and "beating the market" mean the whole range is on one side of zero; even then, nothing is promoted before its read.
  • Bets count once their game starts. The live emails are graded on whether the event happened; their profit assumes the floor price in the email, since we don't capture live odds yet.
  • This is a public test of our models, not betting advice. Most rules that look good in research fail with real money.
