How we calculate team Net PIM drawn/GP vs avg

We add up penalty minutes drawn and taken by every skater on the team, divide the difference by games played and subtract the league average, because some penalties (delay of game, too many men) have no player who drew them. At about 0.20 net xG per two-minute minor, each net minute is worth about a tenth of a goal.

Why it matters for fantasy hockey

Teams that draw more than they take get extra power-play time for their PP1 players and give their goalies fewer shorthanded shots.

How to read it

Positive is good: the team nets more penalty time than an average team. +1.0 a game is about a goal every ten games from discipline alone.

Limitations

Fighting majors and misconducts add minutes without power plays; Penalty Value for players uses minors only.
