What Saves measures
This board ranks NHL goalies by saves, regular season only. Pick any season back to 2017-18 above the table. Shots on goal stopped, regular season.
Saves follow shots against and starts; the rate stat behind them is save percentage.
Saves are shots on goal the goalie stopped. Busy starters behind leaky defences lead, so the total says as much about the team in front as about the goalie. Saves are a category in points leagues and some roto formats; a goalie facing 33 shots a night is worth more there than in wins-only leagues. In 2019-20, 2 goalies qualify for this board; the median is 986 and Andrei Vasilevskiy leads at 1,472.
