A Gordie Howe hat trick is a goal, an assist and a fight in the same game. The NHL does not track it officially, so we build it ourselves: every game since 2017-18 where a player had a goal, an assist and at least five penalty minutes is checked against the official play-by-play for a fighting major. 186 games qualified as candidates; the ones with a fight are listed here.
It is a rare, mostly random event that depends on fighting, which keeps falling across the league. A player's count reflects his role (scoring forwards who also fight) more than any skill you can project.
It has no fantasy or betting use beyond trivia, and we say so. The list is complete for the seasons we hold; earlier seasons need play-by-play we do not have, so career totals before 2017-18 are not included.
