Losses are a team and workload stat: the busiest starters on bad teams top it. Read the number next to its sample: a rate built on a few games moves a lot from week to week, while a total mostly tracks games played and ice time.

A regulation loss is charged to the goalie in net for the goal that decides the game; overtime and shootout losses are counted separately (OTL). A few leagues score losses as a negative. High totals usually mean heavy usage on a weak team rather than poor play.
