Elite defensemen like Cale Makar, Adam Fox, and Quinn Hughes regularly exceed 25 minutes per game. Among forwards, superstars like McDavid and MacKinnon lead in minutes.
Generally yes—there's strong correlation between TOI and fantasy production. However, 4th-liners playing 15 minutes won't outscore stars playing 18 minutes due to role differences.
In overtime, only 3 skaters per team are on ice, so elite players see huge minute spikes in OT games. Games going to OT can significantly boost TOI projections retroactively.
