NHL Projected Power Play Assists - Rest of Season - Rest of Season
Power play assists often come from the quarterback position—usually an elite defenseman or playmaking forward. Our PPA projections identify which players are set up to distribute on the man advantage this season. Target teams with high power play opportunity projections.
What drives PPA? Power play assists come from setting up goals on the man advantage. PP quarterbacks and playmaking forwards accumulate the most PPA.
PPA positions
- PP Quarterback: Usually a D-man at the top of the umbrella (Makar, Fox, Hughes) - Half-wall playmaker: Forwards who distribute from the side (Kucherov, McDavid) - Bumper feeder: Players who find teammates in the slot
PPA volume factors
- PP time: PP1 players get most opportunities - Opponent PK: More PP goals = more PPA opportunities - Role: Quarterbacks touch the puck on almost every PP possession
